Building signage on Kopaonik
A mountain building is signed differently: snow, ice, salt and temperature swings demand materials that take them, and installation that fits between two seasons.
On the mountain, what lasts in the city fails. An external sign takes snow sitting on its top edge, ice that melts and refreezes in the same night, and salt from the approach. So letter boxes are sealed differently, edges are detailed so water does not sit, and fixings are calculated for snow load as well as wind.
The other issue is the calendar. A hotel on Kopaonik cannot be signed mid-season, so the whole job is planned for the shoulder period — survey before closing, production off-season, installation in a narrow window before opening. That means shop drawings have to be closed earlier than in the city, because there is no room to add anything on the fly.
