Education buildings
A school has two audiences: those who spend years there and those entering for the first time. The system has to work for the parent looking for room 12.
In an education building most users know where they are going, so the system is easy to neglect — until enrolment day, exams or a parents evening, when the building receives people who have never been inside. So wayfinding is built for that visitor: a clear floor listing at the entrance, room numbers legible from the corridor, and marking that tells the wings apart.
The other thing an education building demands is materials. Signs at hand height in a school take more punishment than anything in an office, and labels change with every timetable reshuffle. Hence carriers with inserts and finishes that survive cleaning, rather than film that lifts at the edge after the first term.
