The document that protects the building's appearance after we leave. It prescribes how the logotype is applied to every type of sign, so that later additions look as if they were made on the same day as the first one.
Buildings are not signed once. New tenants arrive after handover, rooms change use, signs get damaged and replaced. Without a written rule, every change is made by a different contractor in a different typeface and a different shade, and the system falls apart within a few years.
A standards manual prevents that by describing not only how a sign looks but how it is made: format, grid, typography with the full set of local diacritics, colours to standard, materials, finishing technique, mounting method and minimum clearances. We deliver it as a standalone service and as part of a complete signage system.
Permitted and prohibited applications on every carrier and substrate.
Typeface selection and sizes by reading distance, with the full local character set.
Colour values to standard and prescribed material finishes.
Type sheets for every sign, with dimensions and sections.
Heights, spacing and fixing methods by substrate.
The logic for numbering floors, rooms and service zones.
It is where changes are expected or where the building has multiple tenants. For a building signed once and left unchanged, an as-built sign catalogue is enough.
Yes, and that is its purpose. It is written so that any workshop can produce from it.
