How we approach shopping centres
A shopping centre is the most demanding wayfinding task among the buildings we work on. A visitor arrives from the car park or the street, looks for a unit that may not even be on that level, needs a toilet or an ATM on the way, and on the way back has to find a car on a floor they did not memorise. All of it has to work without asking staff.
The system therefore starts in the car park, not the lobby. We mark parking levels so they are memorable, place car-finding points, lead the visitor to the lift core, and from there to units by maps and directional signs. Tenant lists sit where people already stop, and are built on the assumption that they change — so amending one field does not require a new board.
